Pre-intermediate English courses in Kelowna are for students who can understand and communicate in English. This course is ideal for students who can speak English with confidence in the present, past and future simple tenses. It is for students who can perform tasks such as shopping, booking a hotel room, and starting a conversation in English.
Six levels of GENERAL ESL are offered from Beginner to Advanced which focus on the combined skills of reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, listening and speaking. Students are placed according to their placement test scores on the first day of class.
Students are placed in afternoon Listening, Speaking, Pronunciation and Canadian Culture classes according to their placement test scores. Field trips, presentations and group projects are incorporated into these programs to reinforce ‘real life’ language practice.
Based on an integrated skill curriculum, core classes teach students specific strategies to improve their English while electives reinforce the core language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. Eight language benchmark levels accommodate student progression from a beginner learner with little English skill to advanced language proficiency.
English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses will prepare students who want to achieve academic success in English-speaking universities. Courses cover a variety of relevant and interesting topics, both Canadian and international.

This highly interactive, community-based course teaches students how to be engaged in their community, learn new skills, gain “Canadian” experience and to improve the quality of life in their community where they live. In a classroom setting students will study about local cultural aspects and current events while improving their English language, critical thinking and analytical skills.
This course will assist in the preparation of students to take high school in British Columbia. Students will build strong academic skills and focus on English vocabulary for the subjects.
This program combines 10 weeks of Practical ESL at IGK with a 2 week high school experience at Studio 9 school of the Arts.

This 60 week Diploma of Business Administration (University Transfer Credit Available) is a "Gateway to Your Future" in the areas of Marketing, Office Administration, etc. Students can take the option paid Co-Op work placement program once completed these 14 courses.
