Course description

The LAL Travelling Classroom is an exciting 5-day programme for students wanting to improve their English in practice while still experiencing the majesty of South Africa’s Garden Route. The Travelling Classroom is sure to give students an exhilarating, once-in-a-lifetime learning adventure.

This programme is led by a qualified South African tour guide and an LAL teacher. There are 5 formal, 1-hour lessons which take place along the Garden Route in scenic locations; next to the ocean or even at the world’s highest commercial bungee jump. Besides the formal learning environment, the teacher is always available for on-the-trip learning whether at meals, on the bus or while viewing wild animals.

The Garden Route is famous for its natural beauty and adventure activities, and our students get to experience the best of it. Students will take part in hiking, canoeing, swimming in waterfalls, visiting wildlife sanctuaries, the most southern point in Africa and the forested Tsitsikamma National Park, a 4×4 safari in the Addo National Park and exploring the Cango Caves to name a few of the included highlights. Additionally, students may opt to take the plunge from the world’s highest bungee jump, go cage diving with great white sharks, surfing or zipline down treetops.

Study at our beautiful, state-of-the-art school, equipped for teaching in the technological age while living in one of our two residences a short walk away. Ideally located in the popular Sea Point suburb, our location offers the opportunity to live and study in a cosmopolitan area where people work, live and play - ideal for a rewarding learning experience.

Our Sea Point Student Residence is about 17 minutes' walk from our school, and offers dormitories, twin and single rooms, with the option of ensuite bathrooms, along with a garden and barbeque area, swimming pool, communal kitchen and dining area.

Our more upmarket Milton Road Student House is located right next door to the school, and offers single and twin accommodation in a more intimate atmosphere, with an outdoor area and barbecue, communal kitchen and dining area.

Our teachers are native English speakers from Cape Town and South Africa, and part of our methodology is to teach English inside and outside the classroom - experiencing English in Real Life, along with meaningful learning activities.

We also offer a booking service for activities and excursions on offer in the city and region, using only registered and accredited tour operators.

"Excellent experience"

In one sentence, it was an excellent experience. The school is very well organized, in terms of class arrangement and the teacher's qualification.

The location, facilities are perfect. They should have more activities in order for students to have more contact with English in real life.

About housing, It should have more diversity of food. The lunch is not that good and a bit expensive for students.

The classes about 6-8 people - not really crowded, teachers very professional and cooperative, location great in the nicest area of Cape Town - See Point, facilities - all what you need, a lot of activities, housing - for a dormitory, very good. Visa support

We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.

Your letter of acceptance will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you. If you wish to receive your paperwork by express mail, you will be charged 120 € when you register.
