Southend East Study Centre

The centre was established in 1998 and is just east of Southend at the Christchurch Centre. The study centre outgrew its original hall location and enjoys a reputation for the success of its students amongst the local community. The centre benefits from having an onsite car park and also a waiting lounge for parents and siblings.

At the Southend East Study Centre, there are 12 class assistants trained in different areas of Kumon study, supporting over 150 students of different ages and abilities. Students can start studying at any age from pre-school upwards. Most students enter the classroom independently, although pre-schoolers are offered assistance. These young students work with an early learning assistant in order to develop strong work skills, progressing to our supported learning area until they are ready to self-learn in order to realize their full potential in maths and English.

The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualized, advanced study. Many students continue their learning to GCSE and A-levels, and a number have completed the programs. The Southend East Study Centre sets goals to motivate and encourage students. Staff acknowledge student achievements along the way but celebrate them more publicly at their annual presentation ceremony.
