Our Mission:
The mission of the Language Academy of Sacramento (LAS) is to prepare kindergarten through eighth-grade students, particularly English learners and those from historically underserved populations, to excel academically in Spanish and English, to develop a lifelong love of learning, and to become bilingual, biliterate, and multiculturally competent leaders.
Our Vision:
Our vision is to provide an exceptional two-way Spanish immersion program for all students.
Our Background:
Our school grew out of the Two-Way Spanish Immersion (TWSI) program that operated at Fruit Ridge School, Sacramento City Unified School, which began in 1994. In order to advance the goals of the TWSI program, parents and teachers of the Fruit Ridge community united to create a public charter school. In February 2003, the Sacramento City Unified School District (SCUSD) School Board unanimously approved the charter, and the Language Academy of Sacramento (LAS) became a directly funded independent public charter school.
