The school and residence are located in the garden of a nice villa in the safe, central and green Las Delicias neighborhood. There are two comfortable fully equipped classrooms and 3 bedrooms
During the breaks students can enjoy the garden. There are many shady areas and when the weather allows it, conversations lessons are giving here as well.
The school has Wi-Fi throughout and there is a computer for the students to use. There are two bathrooms.
The Atlantic ocean is at two blocks from the school, so whenever the weather allows it, classes on the beach can be given.
The school is located about 10 blocks from the centre of Maldonado, 2 blocks from the nearest beach and 4km from the centre of Punta del Este. There are shops, restaurants, supermarkets, bus services and an ATM withing a five-block radius.
The main bus terminal is also within walking distance, so it is easy to plan and make trips outside of Punta del Este at the weekends.

I have taken a one week "Business Spanish" course. All the staff were very warm and welcoming. The teachers were very attentive and qualified. The school is a bit distant from the center area of Punta del Este, but very easy to find, riding by the cost. Honestly, I wish the content of the course were more focused on business itself, but once I asked this to Margot (the owner), the last class was totally focused on it. I would recommend the course for foreigners who want to learn Spanish in an immersion environment.

We appreciate your feedback about focusing more on business content—it was great to adjust the last class to fit your needs. We’re happy to hear you’d recommend the course, and we hope your Spanish continues to improve!
Professor Mathias was excellent, very attentive with good pedagogy. He knew how to adapt the course to our needs. The director Margo was excellent too, she planned a good schedule for us. We are very satisfied!
Thank you
Thank you, Annie! We’re so glad you enjoyed your lessons with Mathias and that the schedule we planned worked well for you. It’s wonderful to hear that your experience at La Herradura was a positive one!
I had a very pleasant experience at La Herradura Punta del Este. Both teachers I had classes with are very friendly and know how to teach.
The school's location is pretty good, although the facilities are not good at all. The school building is old, dirty, damp and very dark. For the price the course is charged, I do think it should have better facilities and better resources.
Thank you for your feedback, Luciane! We’re glad you enjoyed your classes and found our teachers friendly and attentive. We truly appreciate your honest comments about the facilities—since then, we’ve been working hard to improve them and provide a brighter, more comfortable environment for our students.
My advisers (Margo, for example) were very helpful in helping me fly, sail, bus, from Seattle to Punta del Este (given the COVID testing requirements for entering Uruguay). They made sure I was on track in getting the necessary testing, and that I made it to the language school safely. We used WhatsApp to communicate back and forth.
At the language school there are friendly people (students, and my teacher, Matias). We as a group got acquainted with one another at one of Punta del Este's bars.
This is the first time that I've visited South America, and it's been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life as a language student. Spanish is the second foreign language that I've studied since high school, in addition to Dutch. Matias is very attentive and has been reliable in handing out homework assignments and documents. I've learned a great deal about Uruguay and the areas surrounding Punta del Este (which I hope to explore someday).
Thank you, Matthew! We’re so glad you had a smooth journey to Punta del Este and enjoyed your time at La Herradura. It’s wonderful to hear that Matias and our team could support your learning and that you had a rewarding experience exploring Uruguay. We hope you got the chance to continue discovering more of the area and practicing your Spanish!
I booked a one week Spanish course for my three children (aged 6-12 yrs) which consisted of 2 hours of morning teaching a day. We had a lovely teacher, Susanna, who instantly put the children at ease and was fun and engaging. It can sometimes be hard dealing with children with a range of ages but Susanna devised stories and ways to practice Spanish that bridged the age gap. The children loved her and by the end of the week their Spanish had improved.
I dealt with the School's director, Margo, who put together the course for the children. They were no longer running the course on their website but she worked with us to come up with teaching suitable for the children that focused on conversational Spanish rather than grammar.
Margo, was great at keeping in contact throughout the process. Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances we were unable to use the school setting so Susanna came to our apartment which worked very well.
All in all it was a very pleasant experience and the children learnt a lot.
It is worth noting when booking that the school is located Maldonado which is about a 40-60 minute walk from the centre of Punta del Este. We stayed in an apartment 5 mins away from the school and there are lots of other great places to stay nearby and on the beach front.
Thank you, Vivienne! We’re so glad your children enjoyed their lessons with Susanna and that the course worked well for your family. It was a pleasure organizing a program customised to their ages and focusing on conversational Spanish. We’re happy to hear they made progress and had a positive experience.
