WHO ARE WE?
Ahlan World is comprised of Arabic language centers in Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, and Italy. Each of the centers shares Ahlan World’s philosophy, which views foreign language not merely as a goal, but also as a tool that enables and encourages greater understanding between cultures. Accordingly, Ahlan courses combine language learning with an introduction to local customs and cultures in order for the student to have a comprehensive experience that goes beyond that of a traditional language class. Outside the classroom, students are offered the opportunity to take part in initiatives with local organizations, attend seminars, and participate in weekly extracurricular activities or trips. Through this multi-faceted approach, students at Ahlan World develop both linguistically and personally during their experience.
WHY STUDY IN AMMAN?
There are many advantages to learning Arabic in Jordan.
The Jordanian dialect is close to Classical Arabic, so when you try to talk to the local people, they will easily understand you.
Jordan is a secure modern country and is a very safe place for foreigners to visit and learn the Arabic language. Amman is quiet, comfortable, and welcoming. Foreign tourists rarely encounter problems.
Jordanians are more likely to speak to you in Arabic than in English or French, so everyone you meet is happy to lend a helping hand.
In the evenings and in weekends you may like to stroll through the souk in Amman, relax in the ancient or modern cafés, enjoy a wide variety of Middle Eastern food, or enjoy the sea view and swim in Aqaba or the Dead Sea. You can also visit Petra, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, sleep in a tent in the desert, and enjoy watching the moon and stars in a way you have never seen them before.
OUR COURSES
All year round, Ahlan Jordan offers one-to-one classes and special group courses. At Ahlan Jordan, students can study both Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) and Jordanian Colloquial Arabic (JCA). Intensive courses are also offered.
MSA intensive courses are NOT available for absolute beginners.
We strongly recommend absolute beginners not to take both MSA and JCA classes at the same time.
MSA courses are organized at 8 levels of ability. JCA courses are organized at 8 levels of ability.
Of course, the lessons, both in Modern Standard Arabic and Jordanian Colloquial Arabic, are organized using several methods of teaching, including grammar, multimedia, literature, poetry, songs, and movies.
The school uses a humanistic communicative approach where each student is encouraged to play a central role in his/her learning process.
Since the teaching methods are based on the principle that languages are learned to enable communication in everyday situations and that it is important to practice what has been taught in the classroom, improvised scene play, role play, group discussions, and games are all part of the teaching and learning process and encourage students' speaking skills and communication.
The team of teachers comprises professional, fully qualified, and highly experienced Arabic native speakers, who graduated in Arabic language and specialized in teaching Arabic to foreigners.
Each class lasts from 2 to 3 hours, depending on the course, with a break in the middle.
Each student will be assigned an appropriate course according to ability, following written and oral tests, taken at the beginning of the course.
Ahlan World’s group courses generally have 2-8 students, to allow for tailored instruction and personal attention.
In case there is only one person in a level, instead of pushing him/her into a lower or higher level, we prefer to organize a private tuition of 1 hour and a half per day for MSA (normal or teacher training program) and 1 hour for JCA.
A certificate is awarded to each student completing a level.
Apart from lessons with Ahlan's expert teachers, the Institute organizes many evening and weekend cultural activities, such as language and cultural exchanges with Jordanian students (TANDEM), providing opportunities to speak Arabic.
