We expect you to have a great experience and social life under the educational environment i-SEIFU provides. ORIENTATION Japanese language acquisition based on the teaching of Buddhism can be conceived too unique and compulsory, some think it is too strict for Japanese language learners. i-SEIFU strongly believes that Japanese language acquisition under our policy guides you to obtain a comprehensive understanding of Japanese language, culture, society, and local people. We assure you to attain the worthwhile achievement and fulfillment of academic life at the end of i-SEIFU life. We should emphasize here that the teachings of Buddhism are innocently introduced as a tool and incentive, nothing to impose upon the students to convert to Buddhists, (1) Unique Concept of Japanese Language Acquisition. 1. i-SEIFU values Japanese tradition and teachings of Buddhism on the way to acquire the Japanese Language. We have not only Buddhist students but also Christian, Muslim, and atheist students, we simply focus on Buddhist teachings... 2. A Buddhist sutra is chanted at a morning/afternoon general assembly once a week and at other school ceremonies. Chanting the sutra makes one’s mind pacify and being calm. While chanting the sutra, you are expected to keep your hands clasped and remain standing quietly. 3. You have the events related to Japanese traditional belief: visiting temples and shrines. (2) School Philosophy 1. i-SEIFU evaluates heavily on attendance rate, the manner in general, and self-control. 2. Greet each other, especially at the opening and ending a class. 3. Keep your words 4. Show a polite manner to each other. (3) Dress Code 1. Students are required to wear appropriate and respectful clean clothing in the classroom setting. Sleeveless tops, short pants, and that kind of short clothes are not allowed on campus. 2. Sandals without back straps and flip flops are not allowed. 3. You are encouraged to wear a suit at the ceremonies; An entrance ceremony, graduation ceremony, and Commencement ceremony In summertime, you wear a dress shirt with or without a jacket and a tie. (4) Teaching System 1. i-SEIFU teachers manage a class by using only local Japanese language. 2. i-SEIFU provides group lessons for the students who wish to go on to university, graduate school, or to seek a position at a Japanese firm or a Japanese affiliated firm. It may not be suitable for the students who want to spend a school life in a lighthearted and fun-loving manner. 3. i-SEIFU makes lessons advanced giving assignment and tests almost on a daily basis. 4. i-SEIFU offers well-designed curriculum for acquiring all four skills and comprehension, Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing. 5. The number of teaching hour: 20 hours a week (5) Placement (language proficiency tests) 1. Morning class and afternoon class are pre-determined by the level of each student. You take placement tests and according to the result of them, you are to be placed into an appropriate class. Upper grade classes: 9:20 -12:50 Lower grade classes: 13:30 -16:50 2. The capacity of one class runs 20 up to 30 students, the minimum of 5 students. 3. Majority of the student body are from Asian countries. 4. Short-term students, who are necessary to prepare for entrance exams of higher education: graduate, undergraduate school, and college, can take extra courses. Extra tuition should be levied. The subjects are English, Math, Biology, Science, and General Studies. (6) Attendance Rate 1. Roll-call is taken in every class. A student who has an attendance rate of 70% is subject to obtain the certificate. (7) School Facilities 1. All the classrooms have central air conditioned system. It may be cold in winter or hot in summer. 2. The student lounge is available between 8:30 am and 18:00 pm. for self-study before and after class. 3. Bicycle shred is available. 4. Two small areas are reserved for Moslem students making a prayer. 5. An infirmary is available. (8) Commuter Pass 1. Short-term students can purchase a commuter pass for adults. They are not subject to student discount pass policy. (9) Others 1. The cost of a copy of the main textbook is included in the tuition. Other textbooks and supplementary materials are available at Administration Office. 2. Short-term students are not eligible to purchase Japanese National Health Insurance. Buy a health plan for international students or other policy through tour agents of the home country. (10) Refund policy 1. The full amount of tuition is refundable excluding bank transfer fee and other actuated expenses when the cancellation of his enrollment is made before the start date of the first class. 2. i-SEIFU does not refund any expenses and fees under any circumstance when the student starts classes.
