School description

This Programme is for young students looking to learn and live the English language in the academic world of central London. The programme offers English tuition at the LSI London Central school with residential accommodation provided at University College London (UCL).

The UCL residence for LSI students is located in the heart of London at Ramsay Hall, Fitzrovia, just off Tottenham Court Road, with Goodge Street and Warren Street approximately 10 minutes' walk from the LSI London Central school. This residence offers bed & breakfast in a single room, with shared kitchens and bathrooms, communal spaces such as a music room, lounge and TV room. The teaching block is at the LSI London Central school, where learners build their confidence in English through engaging lessons and projects taught by friendly and enthusiastic teachers. The LSI Juniors’ activities programme takes full advantage of everything London has to offer and gives students the chance to practise their English and have fun outside of the classroom during social and cultural activities. Both the LSI school and UCL residence are located walking distance from Oxford Street, Britain’s premier shopping street, Soho, Theatreland, China Town, and Regent’s Park. University College London is consistently ranked as one of the top ten universities in the world (QS World University Rankings 2010-2022). With LSI's Summer Camp for Juniors - residential programme at London's University College London (UCL), students will be able to learn and live the language within a diverse community, with the freedom and courage to challenge, to question and to think differently.

"Very disappointing - old facility, only one class"

The quality of the course provided was disappointing. The English level test was pointless because there were fewer than 10 students in total, and all students under 12 were placed in the same class regardless of their English proficiency. The facility was poor / old fashioned and they were taught in the basement.

The school also lacked a structured teaching approach, with the same topic being discussed for an entire week. I was also shocked that students were left to play computer games during breaks and when class ended early.

Overall, very disappointed and wouldn't recommend this.

Visa support

We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.

If you are studying in the UK for over 11 months, you will receive a reference number called a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) that you need to submit to the UK embassy along with your General Student Visa application. Students who have successfully booked a language course and have paid their fees will receive a CAS from LSI. Please note that UK law states that a CAS can only be issued to students who intend to pursue English language studies for over 11 months.

If you are studying in the UK for 11 months or less, you have to apply for a special visitor visa called a Student Visitor Visa. As a student visitor, you will not be able to work part-time while studying. If you plan to study in the UK for 11 months or less, a letter of acceptance will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you.
