Academia Buenos Aires
Academia Buenos Aires offers you the possibility to combine Spanish courses with volunteer work. You can work in different organizations and projects in Buenos Aires, discovering very particular problems and benefiting people in many sectors. Share your time, ideas and skills with Argentineans and discover their culture in a unique way!
We consider volunteer work as an exchange whereby the volunteer in social organizations offers his work and the organization offers a space to share experiences. Receiving a volunteer implies integrating him into daily routines, allowing him to get to know one’s way of life. Being a volunteer, for us, is not an act of charity. It is a way of getting to know and to respect other cultures.
We work with various organizations and you will have to pay neither for our help in organizing your volunteer work, nor for actually working there. If the volunteer organization depends on donations, Academia Buenos Aires will make this contribution, not you.
We ask you to take a minimum of three weeks of regular Spanish classes at Academia Buenos Aires. When starting the volunteer work you will need sufficient Spanish language skills to be able to communicate with the people you will be working with. We consider it necessary to have at least an “Intermediate” Level (= Level 4) at the time you start volunteering.
Our program is for all students willing to share their energy and time for a period of at least 4 weeks on a concrete project. There is no age limit.
There is no better way to use and improve Spanish and live a full cultural immersion.

Academia Buenos Aires is a language school accepted by SEA, Argentina’s language school association and was the first school to become accredited by Instituto Cervantes in Buenos Aires.
The academy has functional and aesthetically appealing classrooms equipped with comfortable chairs, whiteboards, wooden floors, air conditioning (hot/cold), etc. The building in which the school is located in historic and has been completely restored in 2004, resulting in a surprising mix of modern elements in a century-old setting. Rotating art exhibits give an interesting insight into the contemporary art scene in Buenos Aires.
Academia Buenos Aires occupies the top floors of the building with access to the rooftop terrace. There are 10-15 classrooms available for teaching at any time. All have PCs with internet access (plus wifi all over the school), a small library with books, a movie room, the teachers’ room and, of course, the area where students spend their breaks.
The institute is located in downtown Buenos Aires, 50 meters far from the historic Plaza de Mayo in the famous San Telmo district. We have excellent transport connections to all parts of town.
The nationality and age mix at Academia Buenos Aires varies over different time periods, courses and levels. Throughout the year, the average age is 35. In the summer, the average age is 30.

There is a big selection of schools to choose from in Buenos Aires, but once you find a good school, you stick to it.
Academia Buenos Aires has become more like a family to me - a comfortable place to go back to and see familiar faces. This is on top of getting a fantastic education. Every time I am back, I also see new faces and sometimes have new teachers, but the quality is always the same!
Having worked through all there workbooks all the way through almost Nivel C, I have to say that the exercises, lesson plans and materials are well though out. I also notice that not every teacher teaches the same way or even the same topics (especially at the higher levels). This may sound disjointed, but it is actually a good way for students to bridge the gap with a bit of self study and research.
All in all, I give this place my highest recommendation!
I booked 10 individual classes, which were conducted by two brilliant teachers. I loved the warm and personal atmosphere at the school and would always go there again!
