Course description

Semi-Intensive English is for students who want to come to the United States to learn English but not necessarily attend a university after completion. TLC’s Semi-Intensive English integrates the development of listening and speaking skills, structural accuracy, and everyday communication. If your goal is to be able to successfully communicate English in everyday situations, TLC’s Semi-Intensive English course is for you!

All programs at The Language Company are grounded in pedagogically sound principles of second language acquisition and the development of academic literacy in English as a second language. These principles are infused into all classes across all levels and all language domains of listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

TLC selects instructors who are both knowledgeable and enthusiastic with regards to not only the formal instruction delivered in the classroom but also in less formal settings such as discussion groups and off-campus trips. The professionalism and quest for continuously improving the quality of TLC instruction at all centers are supported by opportunities for Professional Development at both the center and corporate levels.

Programs at each TLC center support our larger Mission Statement in addressing the needs of all students and support the broader curriculum parameters of The Language Company as a whole while maintaining the individual requirements of each host university or cooperative institution. Visa support

We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.

If you are studying full time in the United States for more than 18 hours per week, you will receive an I-20 that you need to submit to the US embassy along with your F-1 student visa application. The I-20 has a SEVIS tracking number on it. Students who wish to apply for a student visa must pay the SEVIS fee online before going to the US embassy or consulate for their visa interview.

Your I-20 will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you. If you wish to receive your paperwork by express mail, you will be charged $100 when you register.

Please note that United States law states that an I-20 can only be issued to students who intend to pursue full-time English language studies. United States law does not permit students to study part-time with an F-1 Student Visa. If you are studying for less than 18 hours per week, you have to apply for a Visitor Visa (B1/B2) on your own.
