Course description

The friLingue Open Tennis Camp is designed for children and teenagers aged 10 to 15 who want to improve their language skills while enjoying an exciting tennis experience in the Swiss Alps. The programme combines 15 hours of language lessons per week with 6 hours of tennis training, offering the perfect balance between academic development, sports and recreational activities. Participants take part in tennis training sessions, technical exercises, friendly matches and practical challenges, developing their serving, backhand, forehand and match-playing skills under the guidance of experienced tennis coaches. The camp welcomes young tennis enthusiasts of different abilities, providing an enjoyable sporting environment where they can improve their technique, build confidence and discover the excitement of playing tennis in a spectacular Alpine setting.

Language classes are taught in small groups of approximately 6 students, allowing teachers to adapt lessons to individual needs and language levels. The programme welcomes students from beginner to proficient levels and focuses on developing speaking, listening, reading and writing skills through interactive lessons, games, role-playing, theatre, projects and audiovisual materials. Tennis training sessions are conducted in English, giving participants additional opportunities to practise their communication skills in a practical and dynamic environment. By combining classroom learning with sports and social interaction, students can improve their language abilities while developing teamwork, discipline and independence.

The tennis camp takes place in the picturesque mountain village of Liddes, in the St. Bernard region of the Swiss Alps, in the canton of Valais. Participants stay in welcoming Alpine chalets with shared bedrooms and full-board accommodation, including three meals a day prepared by an in-house chef, as well as fruit and snacks throughout the day. The tennis courts are located just a short walk from the accommodation, allowing students to enjoy training surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery. The programme also includes excursions, recreational activities, themed evenings, campfire activities, evening entertainment and a Friday night disco, alongside 24-hour supervision. In case of rainy weather, tennis sessions can take place indoors at a tennis club in Martigny, with transport provided. Combining language learning, tennis, cultural experiences and the natural beauty of the Swiss Alps, the friLingue Open Tennis Camp offers an enriching and memorable holiday for young people who want to develop their skills, make international friends and enjoy an active summer in Switzerland.
