Course description

A2 German course for basic level - elementary language use

Requirements

The intensive course A2 builds on the A1 course. You can always take a free placement test during our opening hours to test your language level and register for the right course. Participants of the A2 course should already have some previous knowledge and be able to communicate in everyday situations in a simple way. However, we are also happy to fill in any gaps in knowledge that may exist. For example, if your A1 course was some time ago, our teachers will be happy to help you brush up on what you have already learned. An open atmosphere, where questions can be asked, is especially important to us.

Course structure & Our methodology

Just as in the A1 course, we will teach new words in a vivid way using picture cards and other visual media. This rather playful form of learning has also proven to be very useful for adults. The eight chapters of our textbook are divided over the eight weeks of the course, allowing sufficient time to guide you through the learning material. Of course our teachers also use additional and self-designed material for the lessons. The textbook guarantees a structural framework and so you can continue to work and learn from home when you are ill.

We therefore also pay attention to the independent learning of our participants. The topics are designed to be interesting and appealing, and should pick up on the everyday world of the learners. In addition, the students receive useful culture-specific and regional information for life in Germany. Grammar and vocabulary work are important elements of the learning process, but interaction and communication should still be in the foreground and the learners should above all be enabled to make themselves understood.

Language level at the end of the course

After successful completion of the course, you should be able to do the following according to the CEFR's ability descriptions, which our language school follows:

You can understand what is said in everyday conversations if it is spoken slowly and clearly. You can also extract the main information from slow and clearly pronounced sound files. You can also extract the most important information from TV messages, such as news, if they are supported by pictures.

Reading a letter should not cause you any difficulties, for example if the sender is a friend who writes you a personal letter in simple language. You can also understand short instructions for use or short texts concerning everyday life. In addition, you can write short messages and notes, write a letter with the most important greetings and know connectors such as 'and', 'or', 'because' and 'because' and can thus connect the sentences meaningfully.

If spoken slowly and clearly, they can already communicate quite well in everyday life. You can still take breaks to find words, but understand what is being said and can already form simple sentences yourself. You have already developed a routine for some phrases and familiar expressions and their use. You have also already practised a small vocabulary.

Her vocabulary is about 1100 words.

Final Examination & Certificate

At the end of the course you will write an internal examination of the language school, which is based on the examinations of the Goethe-Institut. You will also write a short test every week to check your language level. This way we ensure that you will pass the final exam. These are included in the course fees.

You also have the option of taking a telc Deutsch A2/ Start Deutsch 2 exam, which is subject to additional costs. You can find more information about the telc examinations on our homepage.
