Toronto, which is the capital of Ontario and the most populated city in Canada has a moderately sized downtown with a huge surrounding metropolitan area. There really might be something for everyone in Toronto -- for the hockey lover, there's the Hockey Hall of Fame, shoppers can enjoy the St. Laurence Market, baseball fans can enjoy a Major League Baseball Blue Jays game, and explorers can investigate the winding staircases of Casa Loma, a majestic mansion on a hill that overlooks the city. Students interested in taking English courses in Toronto will be pleased to know that in addition to tons of great restaurants and shops in Toronto, there are plenty of ongoing festivals to experience during their stay as well. Visitors and students at an English school in Toronto can enjoy the International Toronto Film Festival, the Taste of Danforth, or the Caribana festival (a celebration of steel pan music and Caribbean culture) throughout the year.

The main aim of our General English courses is to teach students to speak English fluently and to understand English as it is spoken by native speakers. We provide a balanced programme of skills development (Speaking, Listening, Reading, Writing and Grammar).
The General English course consists of 20 lessons each week and is the least intensive option offered at Kaplan. This course allows students to improve their English while still leaving time for sightseeing and leisure during their stay.
The Intensive 35 course is the fastest way for students to improve their English skills, regardless of their starting level. The course consists of 20 lessons of general English, 7 lessons of structured study, and 8 lessons of elective English each week.
The Semi-Intensive program offers four foundational courses that will help students to develop a strong understanding of the English language. The courses included are Grammar & Idioms, Listening & Speaking, Reading & Vocabulary and Writing & Presentation.
ENROLLMENT and PLACEMENT:
Upon registration, new students do an oral and written assessment test in order to be placed in an ESL class which corresponds to their level of English. Each session is in two parts which lasts for 8 weeks.
