Heredia is a colonial city with a long history, located just outside the capital city of San José. It was originally a Spanish colonial city, and the Spaniards built the city in a very orderly and open fashion that can still be seen today. While in Heredia, the Spanish made their money by exporting Costa Rica’s rich and delicious coffees, for which Costa Rica is still famous for today. Those at a Spanish school in Heredia can also find many fun nearby activities to partake in, like hiking, exploring mountain villages, kayaking, and more. There are also some nearby national parks to explore for the real outdoors enthusiast. Real explorers may want to climb to the top of Monte de la Cruz in order to see birdseye views of the city, coffee plantations, and distant volcanoes.
