School description
The beautiful city of Merida is located in the northwestern part of the Yucatán Peninsula in southeastern Mexico. It was founded in 1542 by Francisco de Montejo and built on the Maya city of T'ho which had been a center of Mayan culture and activity for centuries. Nowadays Merida – also know as the „White City“ - is one of the most tranquil and safest cities in Mexico.
Our Spanish School is strategically situated north east of the historic center in the Itzimna neighborhood, one of Mérida`s most beautiful colonial neighborhoods. It`s a quiet and safe place, close to downtown and within walking distance to the city`s most important avenues (Paseo de Montejo and Circuito Colonias), which not only ensure easy and fast access to all parts of the city but also offer a great variety of recreational and commercial sites, including parks, cafes, restaurants, shops and banks.
The school building itself is a typical Meridian town house which retains much of the charm and intimacy of a family home. Our facilities consist of 5 bright and spacious indoor classrooms, all fully equipped and air conditioned, 1 outdoor class in our tropical courtyard, a cafeteria with computer corner, a swimming pool and a terrace where students can relax during breaks between Spanish classes.
All our courses are designed to help students improve their Spanish focusing on the skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking. As we believe that communication is the key and the main reason for learning languages, our highly experienced and professional teaching staff concentrates on practical communication using innovative methodologies and technologies as well as meaningful materials related to real life situations. In addition we regulary arrange teacher guided excursions to encourage our students to speak and understand Spanish in different environments.
The accommodation is an essential part of a student’s stay with us too. It not only complements the students' learning experience but also affects the students' ability to study and improve the Spanish language. We know that our students have different accommodation preferences and do therefore provide a range of different accommodation options. With a large number of selected host families, a variety of self-catering apartments as well as a good selection of hotels, guest houses and hostels all within walking distance of our schools, we offer a choice of accommodation options for all kind of needs.
