Coronado is a municipality in the province of San José in Costa Rica ( Costa Rica is located in Central America, bordering with Nicaragua to the north, Panama to the south-southeast, the Pacific Ocean to the west and south, and the Caribbean Sea to the east). It was founded in 1910 and became the 11th canton of said province. It owes its name to the Spanish conqueror Juan Vázquez de Coronado.
