Riga is the capital of Latvia. The largest city in the Baltic States, it is a true melting pot, with diverse inhabitants including those of German, Russian, Polish and Latvian descent. This city had its earliest beginning as a trading site during the early Middle Ages. Riga rests on flat plane divided by the Daugava River.
