Roma, or Rome, is the capital of Italy. Located in the central western part of the Italian peninsula, Roma dates back to ancient times where legend says the city was founded by Romulus in 753 BC. Throughout the city there are constant reminders of the rich history of this place. Students enrolled in Italian school in Roma cannot help but feel immersed in its culture and beauty. Whether viewing ancient ruins, baroque churches, palaces, museums, piazzas or gardens, there is much to see and do in Roma. The Colosseum is the most visited attractions and a recognizable symbol of Roma. Dating back to 70-80 AD, it is the largest amphitheater built in the Roman Empire, capable of holding 60,000 spectators at the time. Students taking Italian courses in Roma will have much to occupy their time in between classes. Whether making time to visit the Vatican City, the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, the Sistine Chapel, or any of the various other museums or monuments, every day is a virtual history lesson.
