Florence, South Carolina is located in the southern portion of the Eastern United States. Florence was designed and built to be the hub of three major train stations in the state of South Carolina, and the city has grown because of its fortuitous location here. After the U.S. Civil War, Florence began to boom as a shipment site of cotton, timber, and tobacco. Throughout the last half-century, Florence has also become a major medical center and is home to many pharmaceutical manufacturing plants. For students interested in attending English school in Florence, they will be able to experience the lovely summers of the U.S. without the cold winters that more northern states are used to.
