Taking German courses in Zittau puts you in good company with fellow students in a college friendly Saxon city. Zittau is located in south east Germany close to the border with Poland and the Czech Republic, and its mix of cultures make it a lovely, lively city with great fun for all. The 28,000 people who live there get to experience gorgeous views, as the inner city is peppered with several centuries’ worth of diverse architecture. The town received its charter during the Middle Ages, and there are many beautiful churches to visit, like the Johanniskirche (St. John’s Church) and Klosterkirche (Minster). St. John’s church offers an amazing panoramic view that is more than enough reason to climb the 266 stairs to get to the top of its right tower. Visit the Museum on Art and History to see interesting exhibits and the buildings themselves: remains of German cloisters, a Baroque banqueting hall, and monk cells that have magnificent frescos. The atmospheric Zittau Gebirge mountains make an excellent view, and you can travel to the little towns nestled in the valleys. Sports lovers will enjoy the many opportunities Zittau has. Hiking the Zittau Gebirge, skiing, walking, all different ways to take in the views and breathe mountain fresh air. Night owls will love the many clubs and dance halls, and music fans can enjoy jazz. Perhaps after class at our German school in Zittau you can see a play or musical at the theater or go see an international movie. If you’re looking for a fun city with ample activities and landscapes, Zittau is your first choice.
