Sigy le Chatel is a commune located in the Bourgogne region in the eastern portion of the country of France. This small village is not far from the town of Cluny. Located between Tournus and Cluny, this castle is surrounded by a lovely garden and water features. It was built by the Marquises of Huxelles in the early 17th century. Visitors will enjoy its many features including a moat, turrets, gun ports and a draw bridge. Visitors are treated to a look at what life must have been like for nobility in the 17th century. Students who are in the Sigy le Chatel area during the summer should be sure to head to the Chateau de Cormatin for the Rendezvous do Cormatin. It is a theater festival that draws more than 12,000 spectators each year as it offers more then 40 performances from the works of various playwrights. The area is famous for its wine production, with a great number of wineries offering a variety of selections.
