The town of Uxbridge is a large suburban town located in northwest London. It is also the administrative headquarters of the London Borough of Hillingdon. Students enrolled in English school in Uxbridge will find that the town is an important retail and commercial center with many areas for shopping. Located just eight miles out of central London with easy access via public transportation, visitors to the area will never run out of things to do. Brunel University is located within Uxbridge and has a fairly large student population. The campus also houses a number of facilities that are open to the public including their Arts Centre, Library, the Beldam Gallery and the University Archives. Students taking English courses in Uxbridge should be sure to spend some time in Fassnidge Park. This popular open area is located in the heart of the town and covers four acres. It includes a bowling green, tennis courts, a playground and a skate park. It is also home to a number of interesting plants and trees. Another interesting site to visit is St. Margaret’s Church. It has been Uxbridge’s parish church since the 1820s and the current structure includes pieces that were constructed as far back as the 1200s. With easy access into London, visitors can travel into the central London area and explore the variety of amenities found there. Whether searching for a great night of live entertainment, good restaurants or historic sites to visit, students will find that there is much to see and do.
