The market town of Sherborne is located in northwest Dorset, England. It sits on the River Yeo. Visit the Tudor style house which is known as the Sherborne Castle. It was built by Sir Walter Raleigh in 1594. A visit to the Sherborne Abbey is a must for those staying in or visiting the town. Founded in 705 AD, two Saxon kings are buried in the Abbey. Be sure to look up when touring the church and also make special note of the Great West Window. The painted ceilings in portions of the abbey are stunning.
