The city of Riverdale is located in Clayton County in the state of Georgia. The area that is now Riverdale was originally settled sometime prior to the Civil War. The city began to experience growth once the railroad passed through. Eventually Riverdale became one of the main stops on the railway, contributing even further to its growth. Students enrolled in English school in Riverdale will find that there is much to see and do in Clayton County. Movie fans might enjoy a trip to the Road to Tara Museum. It is home to a variety of exhibits sure to entertain movie and civil war buffs alike. The Stately Oaks Plantation is another popular destination. The home, built in 1839, has the traditional white columned front. Also on the grounds visitors can see a traditional one room schoolhouse, a log kitchen, a blacksmith shop and a country store. Students taking English courses in Riverdale will enjoy the fact that the city is just 10 miles south of the city of Atlanta.
