The city of Norman was founded during the land run in April 1889. It is located in Oklahoma just 20 miles south of Oklahoma City. It was formally incorporated as a city in 1891. Norman is home to the University of Oklahoma which has campuses both in Norman and Oklahoma City. The main campus resides in Norman giving the city a distinct college town feel. Students enrolled in English school in Norman should be sure to visit the Moore-Lindsay House. This Queen Anne style home was once owned by William Moore, a prominent home builder. It now serves as both the city’s and Cleveland County’s historical museum. Visitors can get a good feel for the city’s past. The Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History is another great stop. Its intent is to teach visitors about the state’s entire history, including that from the time of dinosaurs.
