The city of Maryville is located in the state of Tennessee. In 1785 John Craig, a veteran from the American Revolutionary War, built Fort Craig on what is now Maryville. He donated 50 acres next to the fort for the formation of a new town. Maryville is the home to Maryville College, a private 4-year liberal arts school. Students enrolled in English courses in Maryville might stop by the Cades Cove Museum at the Historic Thompson-Brown House which houses photographs, personal histories and other artifacts detailing the history of the area. There are several historical church buildings located in Maryville as well. Just east of Maryville, be sure to visit the Sam Houston School House.
