The city of Martin is located in Weakley County in the north western portion of the state of Tennessee. The area that is now Martin was settled in approximately 1873. The city was laid out in 1874, and was incorporated that same year. Within 2 years the city had 500 residents. Today the city is home to the University of Tennessee at Martin.
