Marbella, located on the Costa del Sol in the Andalucia region of Spain is one of the most popular beach resorts in Spain. Prior to the hotel and resort boom that put this city on the map, Marbella was just a simple fishing village, and still maintains the blended Moorish and Andalucian architecture in the Old Town portions of the city, with its narrow streets and well known Orange Square. In the resort area of the town, there are plenty of high end shopping centers, spas, hotels, and restaurants and the city is also host to several pristine golf courses, horse racing, and nearby skiing in the Sierra Nevadas. Students who study Spanish courses in Marbella are often struck by how much there is to do in this resort town, including the magnificent restaurants (some of which are on the water!), clubs, bars, and along the waterfront. To practice the skills acquired at your Spanish school in Marbella, head down to the super chic Puerto Banús luxury marina and shopping center -- just make sure you leave your credit cards at home, or you could end up doing a lot of damage to your bank account with just a few swipes!
