The city of Gadsden is located in the state of Alabama, about 65 miles northeast of Birmingham. John Riley built the first house in the area that is now Gadsden. This house is still standing. The area was an important stagecoach stop on the Huntsville to Rome route. Students enrolled in English school in Gadsden should be sure to visit Noccalula Falls Park during their stay. The scenic park has a train that runs on a one mile route giving visitors a good view of the area. It also is home to a rustic pioneer village depicting the living conditions of early settlers to the area. The majestic falls are the centerpiece of the park. The Center for Cultural Arts is another fun site to visit. It includes galleries that offer both national and local exhibits. The associated theater presents plays, concerts and more. Racing fans might want to make a trip to the nearby Talladega Superspeedway, approximately 35 miles from Gadsden.
