Crawley is a town and local government district in West Sussex, England. It is situated 28 miles south of London. History indicates that the area has been inhabited since the Stone Age. The area that is now Crawley was a center for ironworking during the Roman times. The town developed slowly as a market town but eventually grew due to its location between London and Brighton as it sat along a trade route.
