Brighton is located in East Sussex on the south coast of Great Britain. Though Brighton’s history started far before the 1500’s, the only remaining ancient architecture in the city is St Nicholas Church and the street pattern of the area now known as "The Laines", which survived a fire after the French raided the town and set it aflame in 1514. In the 18th century it emerged as a health resort featuring sea bathing and became a destination for day-trippers after the arrival of the railway in 1841. Students interested in attending English school in Brighton will find many activities to keep them busy, including strolling the Brighton Pier, walking along Brighton beach in the summer time, or shopping at The Laines. Students interested in English courses in Brighton will have plenty of time after class to do some exploring and enjoy the beautiful scenery. During the warmer months, there are many festivals in Brighton including music festivals and parades. Students will also enjoy Brighton for its moderate marine climate – and some of its great architecture. Students also shouldn’t miss visiting the Royal Pavilion-- a beautiful former royal palace built as a home for the Prince Regent during the early 19th century.
