Embassy CES Junior: Long Island University Summer Camp with activities for Ages 14-20, (24 June - 05 August) Our classes are designed to rapidly improve your English in short amount of time.With a maximum of 15 students per class, you will improve your English language skills through exercises focusing on speaking and listening. There are mixed nationalities in each class. All learning materials are provided on loan in class. Computers, video, data projectors and other modern technology is used to enhance the teaching. All courses begin on Sunday, with classes starting on Monday (except public holidays). <br><br> <b>Culture Club</b><br> We also run the "Culture Club", a series of lectures on an interesting subject - for example, a look at the history and significance of the excursion destinations you will go on. By attending these lectures and taking part in the lively debates you will also help improve skills such as note-taking and formal listening. All Embassy summer schools offer an exciting programme of activities, which take place throughout the day and in the evenings. We make sure that, during their stay, students get the chance to see as many different places as possible.<br><br> <b>Activities</b><br> All Embassy summer schools offer an exciting programme of activities, which take place throughout the day and in the evenings. We make sure that, during their stay, students get the chance to see as many different places as possible.<br> Every week there is one full-day excursion, and two or more half-day trips, including outings to museums, theatre, and other cultural destinations, as well as the opportunity to shop and go sight-seeing, or to enjoy areas of natural beauty. Travel and entrance fees for the organised trips are included in the price of the course. The full day excursion is usually on a Saturday. This is the main trip of the week, and a great opportunity to practise English.<br> <br> <b>Examples</b><br> Daytime activities:<br> Sports: Football, Baseball, Basketball, Soccer, Swimming and Tennis. <br> Non-sports: Arts & Drama, Mask-making.<br> Evening activities: Blind Date, International Night, Discos, Fashion Show, Quiz and Karaoke. <br><br> <b>Examples of typical included excursions:</b><br> Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island: Visit the ultimate landmark of New York and symbol of American freedom.<br> Central Manhattan visits: These may include, for example, Times Square, Highline Park and Macy's department store.<br> Empire State Building: For 40 years the World's tallest building and still an architectural marvel.<br> Metropolitan Museum of Art: Enjoy large collections of ancient art.<br> 5th Avenue shopping<br> American Museum of Natural History<br> Central Park<br><br> <b>What we provide</b><br> A Welfare Officer in each centre, who is responsible for making sure you are happy and well cared-for throughout your stay.<br> A Guardian system is put in place for our individual students in our junior centres.<br> On-site staff trained in First Aid<br> Links with local doctors, dentists and hospitals<br> Junior students are supervised by staff at all times in residential programmes. <br> Students are issued with an ID card<br> An emergency telephone number, open 24 hours every day.<br><br> <b>Arrival in the country</b><br> Students are met at the airport on arrival, and are taken back to the airport at the end of their stay (for all students who have requested a transfer).<br> All students under the age of 18, who are travelling to or from a centre, must be accompanied by an adult.<br> For students aged 18 or over, or who are travelling with a parent or guardian, Embassy will provide information and directions on how to reach the centre.<br> Students are provided with a hot or packed meal (depending on the time of day) when they arrive at their accommodation.<br><br> <b>During your stay</b><br> Students are given an ID card which includes important telephone numbers. EC English Language Schools: New York (Junior) Junior Summer Course (Jun 30 - Aug 11) (Ages 10-16) Nyack College Campus Accommodation Included, Twin Room, Full Board •English course, General English – 20 lessons (45 mins each) per week for a total of 15 hours. The course will develop students’ English language skills by integrating the key areas of reading, writing, speaking and listening. Lessons are focused upon communication; our teachers will encourage students, instilling confidence in their use of English in practical situations.
