"improving is always necessary"
Ganna Safronova,
student from Germany
I can say honestly there are positive and negative sides of my experience. To the positive ones I can add the perfect guest family with its readiness to help in every situation and being understanding. I am alone in my family, it does not have other students, that is why I have enough conversation with my guest family. The next is of course location near the ocean and near the school. Thank you for finding or for supporting to find the place which is not so far from the school. The teachers are educated and can plan a lesson for students very well (some teachers speak too much and not always about the topic of lesson). The teachers and students are very friendly. For me it was important to have no contact with people who speak Russian and Ukrainian because I want to learn English. There are students from different countries, but nobody speaks my native language. It is very good. What I really did not like, that in the first day I got a contract where it was a point that I have one day to make a decision: do I want to stay in the school or not. If not I would get my money back. It is very nice. But in the first day I had no lessons. So I could not say whether it is good or not. For my luck I have no problems with the way of teaching. But I hope in the future this point will be changed. I would be glad when my critical answer help you to improve schools.

Me and my sister had a lot of problems with the school. We didn't have our level during the morning and we didn't have the choice anymore to change and have some money back. I didn't start because the level wasn't good enough for my sister, so it will not be good for me. My sister just made one week and she said, that in the class everybody was speaking all the time, that the teacher waited too long to start another exercise, she didn't learn a lot.

"American teachers are the best"
Anna,
student from Poland
Teachers were perfect, especially John :) He talked with us like a real friend. Teachers have huge knowledge about what makes classes interesting, because they gave us a lot of examples to understand English better. Location is perfect, because it is near a big mall and also it is near the beach, so after classes we often went there. Atmosphere was perfect because there were a lot of interesting and nice students. Everybody wanted to study the language, so even on break time we were sitting outside and talking with teachers like one big family :)

"A different experiences that the other I had in a past but helpful in an other way."
Roddy Mbappe,
student from France
GEOS is not my first language school, I was in UCLA Extension before and in a college in Maryland, so my judgment about GEOS will be based on the differences between these schools. Of course the first day of class I found the school a little bit too small, but at the end of the day it was the most important thing. The fact that the classes are small is better for me to have an opportunity to speak a lot, because in my old school we were so many in a class that sometimes I can spend all day without speaking, so that's a good point about GEOS. The teachers are kind and give a chance for everybody to speak, they make the course in a way that everyone could give his opinion and I think it's the most important thing. The school is not too far from my home stay so the location is not really a problem. I gave a 4 for grade for the activities but I didn't do any of them, but I saw different activities that we can do and they look interesting. The housing is almost perfect for now, I didn't have any problem until now, I wish it will continue that way. One negative point about the courses is that sometimes I feel like it needs more variety.

"A wheelchair-user student's experience"
Vladimir Barakhov,
student from Russia
In the first time I came, there was no candidate among the host-families who's ready to take a student in a wheelchair, and that was a big surprise for me, because nobody has told me that before. I used to hear only "Oh, it's not a problem", but that was really a problem. But some 10 days after, GEOS found a host-family that was the best fit. But they had to remove a wall in the bathroom, they built a ramp for the front door. All that required additional payment, also we had to buy bars. The school had no service for disabled students - it's pretty small. So I, my mother, and the host-family had to figure out the transportation (to school and back), the daily caregiving too, by ourselves.
I very much like the school, all the students and stuff are very friendly and supporting.
Inside the school it is easy to use a wheelchair: all the rooms and doors are accessible. I guess that being a wheelchair-user student is not easy anywhere. Disabled students should not come here to study English, even though the school is wonderful. Otherwise, they'll have to figure out too much by themselves and get ready for several extra payments.
But I hope they don't feel sorry regarding my study at their school. I liked it very much! And I think all enabled students who want to study English at any level (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced) should go to GEOS, LA. Here they will find many friends from other country and improve their English skills in a very easy way. They'll enjoy it, no doubt.
