Course description

Students who choose the tennis elective will work with our professional tennis coaches to learn new skills, achieve their personal goals and develop a love of the game. The course is designed to meet the needs of every student, from complete beginners to advanced level tennis players.

Beginner’s benefit from individual attention and constant encouragement, as well as learning to develop their basic tennis strokes. Intermediate players refine their strokes and learn how to use their strengths for competitive advantage. More advanced players also cover spin techniques, positional play, footwork and tactical awareness.

All players play full-length games and learn the rules of the game, as well as receiving coaching in good tennis technique, sportsmanship and general fitness.

This three week elective summer school course will culminate in the ISSOS Tennis Academy’s annual tennis tournament, in which all students participate.

ISSOS International Summer Schools are amazing. The staff are incredibly welcoming. The teachers are engaging and encouraging and their classes are interesting and dynamic. The accommodation is safe and comfortable. The location was wonderful and there is the opportunity to go on fun and interesting trips. I would recommend ISSOS to anyone who wants to practise and improve their English skills, study interesting academic and elective classes, meet friends from lots of different nationalities and have so much fun!

ISSOS at Yale is set within the grounds of Yale University. Students are housed in the historic Trumbull College which provides them with a very comfortable and safe ‘home away from home’ for the duration of the three-week program. Trumbull is one of Yale’s most beautiful and most intimate residential colleges. It is said that James Gamble Rogers, who designed nine of Yale’s twelve residential colleges, considered Trumbull his masterpiece.

All students will be housed in Trumbull College with its oak paneled common room facilities, libraries and lawns that students can take full advantage of during their stay.

Trumbull College has fantastic facilities for studnets to enjoy. From the beautiful Dining Room and plush Common Room, students will eat and relax, in style.

Visa support

We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. The school is also not authorized to issue an I-20 to support an F-1 student visa application. If you need a visa, you have to apply for a Visitor Visa (B1/B2) on your own.

Flights and airport transfer

Please note that we do not book flights for our students. If you are researching airfare costs, we recommend using Kayak.com, a search engine that lets you compare flight options from your home country to New Haven based on your budget, schedule and preferences.
