Course description

The Semi-Intensive 24 course focuses on language fluency as a main goal. The four major skills students will practice are reading, writing, speaking and listening. Students are active participants and learn grammar, vocabulary and common expressions by working and speaking with their classmates. The additional 4 lessons in this course allow students extra time to learn and practice all of their newly learned skills.
Please note that the first day is mainly focused on pre-test and orientation
This is the timetable of the student:
08:30 - Student arrival and check-in
09:00 - Placement test and interviews
11:00 - Welcome breakfast and orientation with various EC staff members

Students taking courses with 20 or 24 lessons per week will not have class on the first day due to orientation, while those taking courses with 30 lessons per week will have two classes in the afternoon on the first day after orientation.

Course topics

Students learn through context and real situations that help them to learn in a natural way. Teachers supply new topics daily, and utilize textbooks, authentic materials and resources, including newspapers, videos and the internet, to show and teach English in an everyday context.

"Nice time and excellent teacher"

Gabrielle Enhav, student from Sweden

I was so happy to have Lexi as a teacher. She is just the best - easy to talk to and was able to teach me quite a lot during my short period of time at EC.

"The best study experience in my life."

Kristýna Havláková, student from Czech Republic

The school was perfect and I was really surprised that we had "two" subjects and English. It was really cool and I appreciated that. I had a lot of friends from a different countries and we spent a lot of time together and we are writing each other sometimes. The housing was great. I lived in CCNM Residence and that was the best choice. We known all people in residence and it was great. I had residence 15 minutes from school.

"An unforgettable experience in Toronto"

Claire-Elsa Fontaine, student from Canada

Teachers were kind and professional.
Good atmosphere in classes.
However, I booked 30+ class and my classmates were all under 30 years old! So I was disappointed because I think I would learn more with older adults.

The school's location was very good, the facilities too.

About activities, I expected more activities for 30+, and no only coffee chat; I couldn't go there I had class at this moment.

Finally, the housing was very good, comfortable. Sonia was really great!

About my improvement, if I believe your score, only 4%; it's very expensive to progress slightly.

"The experience overall was worth it"

JUAREZ PAPALEO DE SOUZA GOMES, student from Brazil

The average age of the students is too low for people over fourty years old.

It was quite a bit embarrassing for me (59 years old) attending classes with these teenagers.

If I would have known about this, I would look for another school, more suitable for me.

The teachers are very professional and kind, and i miss them (give my best regards to Brian, Justine and Michael).

Sometimes I would feel a little bit lonely and even depressed, but I was able to manage it.

Properly, because people there are very kind and friendly.

The homestay was a big problem, because the accommodations didn't meet my expectations in terms of comfort, despite the owner being a nice guy.

The health insurance plan failed to work as expected, because I was not able to get reimbursed.

For the whole amount of the medical expenses I've had over there , for problems related to blood pressure (three medical appointments).

I loved to travel to Montreal, Quebec City and Ottawa and know more about this fantastic country (it was my fourth trip to Canada).

Thanks.

It is really great. I've lived in the school the last two weeks--the places, the people, and the classes are great.

Visa support

We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.

Your letter of acceptance will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you. If you wish to receive your paperwork by express mail, you will be charged C$ 85 when you register.

Flights and airport transfer

Please note that we do not book flights for our students. If you are researching airfare costs, we recommend using Kayak.com, a search engine that lets you compare flight options from your home country to Toronto based on your budget, schedule and preferences.

Study abroad worry-free with Language International's health and personal effects insurance coverage. When you book a course with us, you can opt to purchase an international insurance plan that covers not only your health care cost but also loss of your personal belongings.
