A progressive programme designed to meet participants’ professional requirements in the health sector and to provide a capacity to better understand and actively participate in French life. Course includes: High quality teaching by qualified and experienced teachers, All educational material, Approximately 1 hour personal work each day, 1 practical guide to the city, 1 guided city visit, 1 French film each week at BLS, 24/24 assistance 7/7 in the event of emergency, Free meet at station/airport for host family accommodation, A BLS course completion certificate. This course is designed for students who wish to broaden their knowledge of the French medical environment and who intend working in the health sector (medical students, doctors, medical assistants, etc.). We would like to draw students’ attention to the fact that this course is on medical French and not a course in medicine. Students need not be experts in this field to attend the course. The programme also focuses on patient-doctor relations in daily situations (making an appointment, consultation, diagnosis, prescription) and communication between doctors. The programme presents the French health system with a variety of supporting documents (television programmes, reference websites, medical training CD-ROMs, etc.) and through simulations of practical situations that arise in a hospital environment. The course begins with day-to-day situations leading up to use of the specialised vocabulary needed by professionals in the health sector. It will focus on the different cross-cultural aspects of patient-doctor and patient-hospital relations and will feature a communicative approach based on simulations of realistic situations (hospital, medical examination, etc.). Course includes 30 lessons per week: 20 general French morning lessons + 10 private medical French afternoon lessons per week.
