Learn English in England’s top university city! Take English lessons in a top college and explore English culture. Cambridge is a small city and accommodation is close to school. EC’s homestay providers can be found in the Cherry Hinton, Arbury, Chesterton & New Chesterton areas of Cambridge. What's Included: • English course: 20 morning / afternoon lessons (45 mins each) per week for a total of 15 hours. The course will help improve English language skills by focusing on the key areas: reading, writing, speaking and listening. A strong focus is placed on speech and using the language confidently and fluently. • Accommodation on full board • Supervised activity programme: > 5 half day activities and 4 evening activities per week > 1 full day activity for students staying minimum 2 weeks Room Type: • Twin room - students are placed in a twin room with other students of the same gender but different nationality Rooms include: • Desk/table where students can do their homework (if not in the room, a place for studying will be provided in a common area) • Storage space • Students will be provided with access to living areas during acceptable hours What to Expect from the Residence: • All students will have access to a phone and will be allowed to accept incoming calls. If students want to make phone calls they must use a calling card. • The host family will provide access to laundry facilities or coin operated machines. Students will be in charge of taking care of their own laundry • Bed linen is provided; students should bring their own towels- linen and towels will be cleaned once a week. • Laundry facilities will be provided by the family once a week. Meals: • Breakfast - Tea/coffee, toast, jam and cereal • Lunches - Lunch is provided in various outlets in Cambridge city centre, these may include restaurants such as British, Italian, Chinese and American, offering a variety of cuisines. Social Leaders will accompany students to pre-arranged restaurants each day. Packed lunches will be provided by the students' homestay provider at the weekend. • Dinner - A hot meal, for example pasta/chicken/beef/pork/pizza/hamburgers & water, will be provided at their homestay. The prestigious Jesus Residence is situated in the centre of the beautiful city of Cambridge, a 20 - 25 minutes’ walk from Chesterton Community College, EC’s Junior Centre. Shops, cafés, sports facilities, a multiplex cinema and the historical sites of Cambridge are all within walking distance of Jesus residence. Rooms Include: • Beds and chest of drawers • Storage space • Writing desk and chair • Reading lamp • Mirror • Notice board • Rooms may contain a hand wash basin. What to Expect from the Residence: • Students stay in comfortable single or twin rooms in individual houses. • Between 9 and 12 students normally stay in each house and are fully supervised by a live-in EC Social Leader. • There are between 2 bathrooms per house. • Communal area including a kitchen where the live-in social leader and students will prepare and have breakfast. • Bed linen is provided and changed weekly; students should bring their own towels. • Bedrooms are cleaned and tidied weekly, communal areas are cleaned and tidied daily. However, all students should assist in keeping both their own rooms and communal areas tidy. • Students can use the washing machines in each house. They will be responsible for their own laundry. If they would like to use the washing machines more than once a week students must provide their own laundry washing powder. Meals • Breakfast - Students will receive a breakfast including tea/coffee, toast, jam and cereal at each boarding house in Jesus College residence. • Lunches - Lunch is provided in various outlets in Cambridge city centre. These may include restaurants such as British, Italian, Chinese and American, offering a variety of cuisines. Social Leaders will accompany students to pre-arranged restaurants each day. Packed lunches will be provided on full day excursions. • Dinner - Dinner is served every evening at our Junior centre. A hot meal will be provided to students and will include a vegetarian option.
