International House: Nice General French Course (20) This course is the most popular at the school as it offers the possibility to learn to speak french in beneficial conditions in small groups of 10 students maximum (often less). It focuses on structured oral activities, on aural comprehension, and on practical grammar, all of which you will be able to apply immediately to everyday life. International House: Nice Teenager Summer Programme (Age 12-16) (Jul 1 - Aug 11) + Homestay, Twin Room, Half Board This programme is aimed at students who have studied the language for at least a year. It must be noted that complete beginners are not accepted and that students should be aged between 12 and 16.<br><br> The classes will make small groups of 15 students maximum at an equal level of French and are based on active practical work and role-play ensuring that the student gets plenty of practice in real French life as well as having fun! The International House teachers specialise in teaching French to young foreigners and every student is encouraged to participate in class as much as possible.<br><br> Lessons begin at 9 am and end at 12.15, Monday to Friday, except on bank holidays. Students will study in small groups of no more than 15 students. Emphasis will be on spoken French. Teaching will be dynamic and entertaining, and will include games, songs and role-playing. All members of staff are fully experienced in teaching French to teenagers. At the end of their stay, each participant will receive a certificate indicating their oral and written level in French, according to the standards set by the European Council.<br><br> <b>Accommodation</b><br> The programme includes family accommodation. Each selected family will accommodate a minimum of two students, in double rooms. Our families are used to having teenagers and remain in close contact with the school, which allows us to supervise the students with great care. Most families live within walking distance from the school or are in easy access by bus or tramway. Breakfast and dinner will be provided by the family. The school will provide a packed lunch.<br><br> <b>Activities</b><br> A variety of activities are arranged for the students by our tour leaders. These activities take place after classes, between 13.30 and 18.00 on school days and from 11.00 to 18.00 at weekends, in the form of full day excursions or outdoor activities. During the week, the participants will be accompanied to the beach, in Nice, by our supervisors, where they will practice different sports and swim under supervision. On Saturdays and Sundays, they will explore the region accompanied by a tour leader and an official guide or practice an outdoor activity.<br><br> Other activities not included in the package are also available at extra cost, including tennis, sailing, kayaking, and underwater diving. International House: Nice Preparation for DELF A1, A2, and B1 In preparing for the A1, A2, B1 exams you will follow the general French intensive programme GR 20 in the mornings, plus you will have three afternoons of group lessons dedicated specifically to exam preparation. It is essential that you do homework to give yourself the best advantage in the exam. The pass rate at the school is 98 %. The Director and the Director of studies have been members of the board of DELF examiners since its foundation in the Alpes-Maritimes. It is possible to sit these exams in Cannes. All relevant information will be given to you upon arrival at the International House school. We recommend that you enroll before your arrival due to the strict terms and conditions of the examinations. Price of exam is €105 but is not included in price of course. Exam dates for 2012 are as follows: March 14,15,16; May 23, 24, 25; June 20, 21, 22; July 18,19,20 (No DELF A1 Exam in July); September 19,20,21 (No DELF A1 Exam in September); November 12,13,14; December 3,4,5.
