The LSI Intensive 30 Course is of particular benefit for those who need to maximize their opportunities to practice and learn English. The emphasis is on speaking and other communicative skills. In the morning, students will learn communication skills in a variety of everyday situations. In the afternoon, students concentrate on special topics and projects, with a focus on communicative skills.
These lessons provide a comprehensive review of the culture and customs of the United States. Students who have reached the intermediate level can take the TOEFL preparation or Modular Business course in the afternoon. |
Course topics | In the mornings, students will cover the following areas: grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, speaking, listening, reading, writing. Students will use a text book and a wide variety of materials and exercises including role plays, authentic materials, newspapers and magazines. In the afternoons, students concentrate on special topics and projects, with a focus on communicative skills. All LSI schools offer fluency practice – these classes consolidate what students learn in the morning, improving fluency and pronunciation through discussion on a wide range of topics. There is an emphasis on language for everyday situations. Topics may include: film and theatre, media studies, current events, politics, local culture, research using the internet. Students who have reached the intermediate level can take advantage of the special topics in the afternoon, such as the test preparation or business course. Topics may vary based on location. |
