Course description

Our vacation courses provide 15 hours per week of English tuition. This is divided into 20 lessons of 45 minutes each. Lessons are taken daily Monday to Friday between 09.00 and 12.30 each morning or between 13.30 and 17.00 each afternoon. All our teachers are qualified and the tuition programmes focus on activating language, especially fluency skills (speaking and listening), vocabulary extension, grammar recycling and project work. All students are tested on their level of English on arrival and placed in appropriately graded study groups. Reports and certificates are issued at the end of the course. In those centres where homestay is available, students also have the choice of being accommodated with local hosts. All hosts are carefully selected and their homes inspected every two years. Living with a local host provides an ideal opportunity to get to know about the British way of life and to improve language skills through daily contact. It is unusual for hosts to be within walking distance of the college so students should expect to use public transport to get to and from the summer school centre.
