ELC Language Schools: EdinburghGeneral English 25The main focus of an EAC General English Course is on communication skills in real-life settings. The course and teachers strive to meet the needs of all of the individuals in the class uses authentic material such as newspapers, DVDs, the Internet, books and other media, in addition to course books. All classes have the same teacher for the main part of the day. This allows the teacher to get to know the students and to work with them on any weak areas of their English language skills. Students have regular progress tests and reports as well as homework; at the end of the course students receive a certificate and detailed report of their progress. General English Courses provide the opportunity to develop, revise and consolidate language and to build confidence in both receptive skills (listening and reading) and in producing spoken and written English. The intensive course contains 30 lessons per week (22.5 hours).
