Xian is an ancient city and has more than 3,000 years of history. It used to be known as Chang'an and served as the capital city for the Zhou, Qin, Han, and Tang dynasties. What is amazing about Xian, is that the most famous part of this ancient city wasn't even discovered until 1974 when a few farmers uncovered thousands of terracotta warriors just outside the city. Nowadays they draw thousands of intrigued viewers, who visit the area outside the city to see these intricate funerary figurines.
